Enhancing Competitiveness of Pakistan’s Small Businesses
In 2008, Standard Chartered responded to the Business Call to Action and launched a pilot program to support small business development in Pakistan. Over the course of the pilot, Standard Chartered in partnership with the International Finance Corporation, provided intensive training in finance, accounting, and customer service delivery to 146 entrepreneurs in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Sialkot. In addition, Standard Chartered provided mentoring services to the entrepreneurs. Finally, the bank is exploring the potential for developing new financial products to meet small business’ needs.
Standard Chartered is exploring opportunities for scaling up this pilot program to key markets in Africa.
